With the help of RS, we have finished our planning for 15 days in Sept 2011. Our itinerary puts us in Sorrento /Amalfi on Sunday & Monday.
Is this going to be an issue since I read that Italy on those days is 'closed'?

And just FYI, when we were there in 2003 I was surprised to find out how many of the stores in Sorrento took a siesta in the afternoon.

You will find almost everything open in Sorrento on Sundays and Mondays in September. Each resto will close for one day a week but not all on the same day! Some of the ordinary shops eg opticians may close on Sunday but not necessarily. In the "old" days all the state run sites used to close on Mondays but that seems to have gone by the board these days. The major sites are open every day (some public holidays excepted) however the National Arch Museum in Naples closes on Tuesdays. Shops will close for lunch from about 1pm to 4-4.30 pm.
