Sorrento/Capri to Naples by boat?

Hi all,
We have 2 nights in Sorrento and one day I will spend in Pompeii. RS suggests that you could catch an early boat to Capri, store your luggage, see Capri, then boat on to Naples. We are staying in Rome that evening. I know my family would very much enjoy the boat ride, I'm just not sure if this is really doable - there are 5 of us and the luggage storage issue alone makes me skeptical. If this all sounds good, is it ridiculous to make the train reservation out of Naples at 7 or should I just wing it? Thanks very much!!!

Yvonda, Instead of spending the last day in Capri Island and one day in Pompeii. I suggest you to visit Pompeii in the last day on you way back to Rome. I don't think you will need one full day for Pompeii. Four hours should be enough. You can take the Circumvesuviana Train from Sorrento to Pompeii and after visited Pompeii take the same train to Naples train station. Pompeii have free laggage storage. The ferry schedule is changing all the time in May and June due to the weather. It will be better to take the train if you have to get back to Rome that evening.
Have a good trip.

Thanks Rick - good idea. Do you know if we can store our luggage at Pompeii though if we check out and visit on the way to Rome?

Yes, Pompeii have luggage storage for you. It was no charge last year. The storage is part of the Pompeii near the ticket office.

We took the boat from Salerno to Sorrento and then the train back to Naples to catch the train to Rome. The worst thing about it was we had to spend two hours in Positano, drinking wine and eating at a buffet on the beach. Oh, the torture! LOL
