We would like to travel by boat from Sorrento to Positano & Amalfi and then on another day from Sorrento to Capri. I'm not sure if the ferry runs frequently in early April and if you can easily view the Amalfi coast from the ferry. If anyone can share their experiences and more details about the different kinds of boats available I would really appreciate it. We aren't looking to book a private boat for just the two of us but will consider all other options. Thanks for any insight.

View of the coast from the ferry is the best

I was in Amalfi November 2024. directferries.com will pull up all the ferries and times, etc. Had no problem where I wanted to go in November from Amalfi. I booked directly with the ferry companies, not directferries. All ferry companies at the dock in Amalfi.
There was a bus strike on the day I was to go from Amalfi to catch the train from Sorrento south. So I had to take the ferry. I was extremely disappointed. No good view of Amalfi and they were too far out from the coast on the rest of the trip to Sorrento never mind the bobbing, weaving, jerking motion of the ferry.

???? The only rail to Sorrento is the Circumvesuviana, and the line to Sorrento ends in Sorrento; it doesn't travel any further. Are you sure you didn't mean Salerno?
You betcha I meant Salerno!
Hi!
Last summer we traveled from Sorrento to Salerno by boat and it was gorgeous!
We had previously been to the most popular towns in the AC so we had no real interest ( this time) to stop at any of them but having the possibility to see them from the boat was glorious!
It stopped at Positano, Amalfi and Priano before arriving to Salerno.
We were very happy with our decision to go this way.
Happy travels!
