Has anyone rented an apartment or home in Sorrento? I am looking for a place that is close to the train station in Sorrento. I will be traveling with my husband and we would like to have a place with a kitchen to prepare some of our meals. I have been looking at several websites for rentals and it would be great to have a personal review from Rick Steve Travelers :)

Anywhere in and around the town centre will not be far from the station. It is not a big place so no real need to stay right by the station. No problem staying there but you will have a much bigger choice if you widen your search to a 10-15 minute radius. This March we stayed at "La Piazzetta" in Piazza Sant' Antonino which is a block or so away from Piazza Tasso and about 10 minutes from the station. It is also not far from the public elevator down to the ferry harbour. They have a mixture of hotel rooms, studio apartments and a one bedroom apartment. No elevator if that's an issue. We stayed in the Purple studio and it was spacious enough for the two of us, it has a Juliet balcony. The Blue studio next door has a good sized terrace with dining furniture. http://www.lapiazzettasorrento.com/en/ Take a look at Sorrento on Google maps and use Streetview to "walk" around the town yourself. Be aware that the scenes were photgraphed a couple or so years ago so the only constant will be the distance between places.
