We are traveling from Siena to Sorrento 10/7 using public transportation and want to squeeze in as much as possible. We need to get to Rome before 10pm on the 11th. Any suggestions as to how to schedule our wish list to maximize our time ( Amalfi Coast, Pompeii , Sorrento , Mount V, Capri ? )

The trip from Siena to Sorrento will take most of the day, so:
10/7: Siena to Sorrento transfer. Arrive, check in and relax strolling in Sorrento.
10/8: day trip to Capri (by boat, of course)
10/9: day trip to Positano and Amalfi (by bus)
10/10: day trip to Pompeii (maybe Ercolano as well) by Circumvesuviana train. In the evening return to Sorrento and relax.
10/11: make your way to Rome via Circumvesuviana train to Naples, then high speed train. Along the way stop in Naples, drop your luggage at the station's deposito bagagli (baggage storage) and visit Naples, including the National Archeology Museum. Have a pizza in town, that is where it was invented. When you are ready to leave for Rome, get back to the station, retrieve your luggage and take the train. Allow 30 min to retrieve the luggage, sometimes there is a line.
The last high speed train to Rome departs from Naples at around 7:30pm and there is at least one per hour before that.
