Looking to spend 3 days on Amalfi in April. What town is best to stay? I have car. Is Capri worth seeing if I only have 3 days and want to see Amalfi,Positano and Sorrento. Looking to most likely stay in Sorrento.
Thanks

I’d stay in Sorento. We also were there in April, so I don’t think the summer ferry schedule is in full swing yet. We were there for 5 nights. But Sorento is great home base.
Here’s options
Lots of places in Sorrento to walk around and explore before or after your day trips. The day we were going to visit the Lemoncello place, it was closed.
As well as Positano and Amalfi, don’t miss Ravello for the most spectacular views of the coast and dramatic villas.
My first question is whether you are counting your arrival day as Day 1. If so, I wouldn’t try to include Capri. Getting there and back eats up too much time. If you really have 3 days, then you can spend a very nice one on that island. Get an early start, because the last ferry back to Sorrento leaves rather early; and you have to get back down to the marina to catch it. Be sure to include the town of Anacapri in your visit.
Sorrento can occupy another day.
Of the towns actually on the Amalfi Coast, Ravello is the most beautiful. Amalfi is interesting; and, in my opinion, Positano is skippable.
Please let me know if I took 8:00 ferry to Capri, what would can I do there till 4:00?

It's probably best to spend some time with Capri's website for ideas which appeal to you. Ignore the offers for guided tours: with a good map (get one at the Tourist Info office) and info from the website, you can do just fine on your own (we did).
Note the spelling, Sorrento.
The area from Sorrento to Amalfi (town) is charming but personally, I would not want to drive it. The driver cannot enjoy the scenery at all and while April is early, there will be bus traffic to contend with and parking is hard to find. Read up on this in Rick Steves before you doom it to a car.
Ravello is delightful with two neat villas to explore and great ambiance. Far better than Capri, IMO. Capri was overrun with people in the main area when we went (in May), although hiking up to Tiberius’ Villa (ruins) was fun and worthwhile. RS covers what to do on Capri quite thoroughly in his guide book.
Are you going to Pompeii?
