Sorento

Thinking about a two or three night stay in Sorrento. Anyone have a good idea for a hotel in a good location? I was on a big group tour last time I was there and feel like we were way outside of town and would like to be closer to the action. Thanks in advance!

Check out Il Nido and La Tonnarella.

La Tonnarella is more expensive, but it's closer to "downtown" Sorrento. It is also right on the water and has a private beach.

Il Nido is high above the town, with a shuttle service to access "downtown".

Both have spectacular views, free parking, their own restaurant for dinner (and, breakfast, included), air conditioning, and balconies.

Grand Hotel Royal and its sister the Grand Hotel Ambasciatori are beautiful upscale seaside hotels close to the train station in Sorrento. Personally we stayed in the Ambasciatori, and had a balcony perched over the ocean that was bigger than my bedroom at home!

Another vote for Il Nido. The views are to die for. The family that runs this hotel will make you feel at home. The free shuttle service they offer will give you the best of both worlds: great views of the coast but access to the center within moments while avoiding the noise!

I stayed at two different hotels last month in Sorrento. Both are excellent, IL Nido and Hotel Flora. Hotel Flora is in town and Il Nido is about 10 minutes from town. I highly recommend either one.

Grand Hotel Ambasciatori gets my vote. It is about a 10 minute walk to town and after a delicious meal at Caruso's it feels great to walk. The gardens, poolside, seaside deck, sunsets, and views are simply outstanding. After travelling around one year, we decided to stay put at the hotel and just chill, and it was a memorable day!

I highly recommend La Tonnarella. We've stayed there 3 times and we'll be there again in 2 wks. We love this hotel.

Hi Jeff
Another vote for Il Nido. Just be aware they have a siesta so their shuttle bus doesn't run in the middle of the day-we didn't know that and it caused some problems at first. However, I would stay there again in a heartbeat. They are very helpful, amazing views, great breakfast and nice little balcony from our room. Good luck!
