Some train ticket questions for Italy

Hello

  1. Looking at some train tickets, is the extra magic tickets on Italo the equivalent to frecciadays on trenitalia ? Are there any requirements I need to satisfy to buy those tickets like need some European ID or pass?

  2. What kind of id valid for proof of age for reduction tickets? Would passport do?

  3. Is it necessary to opt for seat assignments for short trips like from Florence to Roma, if I buy two tickets would they be together?

  4. I'm going from Florence to Rome. If my hotel isnt located at the termini station, do I purchase a seperate ticket on arrival to the destination. Or can i buy from florence to whereever in rome?

  1. The eXtra MAGIC tickets are not changeable or refundable. No other requirements as far as I know.
  2. Your passport is your legal ID.
  3. Yes. everyone gets a seat assignment, just like an airplane. Do you have to sit in that seat? No. You can go to the bar car for some refreshment.
  4. You get to your hotel by public transportation or a taxi. High speed trains stop at either Rome Termini or Rome Tiburtina. Get off at the station closest to your hotel. There me be some hotels outside the city center that you can use a suburban train to get close, like Rome San Pietro or Rome Tuscolana.
