Looking for a softer bed at a 3-star hotel in Rome. Hard beds hurt my wife and I, so we're hoping to find mattresses that are soft or at least a medium firmness. Two twin beds or any other size of bed(s) is fine, as long as they're not hard. Unfortunately, we're on a 3-star budget, however. Any advice or hotel names would be greatly appreciated.

I know italian beds are sometimes very firm! I stayed at the Smeraldo last year and found their beds medium - not soft though.

Carl, you might want to scroll through some of the posts in the Italy: Hotel and Restaurant Reviews forum for some good information. And quite frankly, I'd be leery of the response directly above as it doesn't sound like this person has any direct experience staying there, but is just spouting off internet drivel.
