If we are understanding correctly, there is a soccer game in Empoli on May 15 when we expect to be in Florence. I would appreciate tips for buying tickets or going to the game. Thanks.

Yes, they will be playing Torino. Tickets aren't on sale yet but you can secure them via the team's official site (http://tinyurl.com/jzt73t4) or via this resale site (http://tinyurl.com/glnslkc).
Don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but I personally wouldn't waste vacation time on this match. It's the last weekend of the season and neither team have much to play for:(
