Hi all.
I’m wondering if anyone has a suggestion for getting soccer tickets for a game in Naples on May 19. My son seems to be having some difficulty with this. It seems each ticket requires the persons name. Could this be? Thank you
Hi all.
I’m wondering if anyone has a suggestion for getting soccer tickets for a game in Naples on May 19. My son seems to be having some difficulty with this. It seems each ticket requires the persons name. Could this be? Thank you
Tickets I purchased for Florence Series A soccer matches were issued in my name, so I'm not surprised to hear Naples does the same. The name on the ticket must then match the ID (such as your passport) used to clear security at the stadium.
Yes. Entering an Italian stadium nowadays is like boarding an airplane. Pretty much same security procedures as flying. The ticket will bear your name and the name on your ticket must match the name in the passport (you will need the passport too). You may be subject to a strip search too.
I would wait until it get closer to the match day. They often don't release tickets to the general public until about 45 days before the match.
There will be a markup but you can get tickets from a resale site like Viagogo.com
FWIW, I have purchased tickets ticket for matches in Milan from resale sites. The tickets didn't have my name on it, and they let me in. They just looked at the cover of my US passport and and waved me through. I was also given a "transfer" letter from the original owner. It was a joke, it simply said in italian: "This ticket is transferred to this current owner". But they never asked for it.
Sorry, Mike but do you know the cover of mlb1253's passport? Or where in the stadium they are going to seat? If they are attending a low-risk match or not? You'd better not assume that cops in Naples treat everybody as an obvious, harmelss US tourist in Milan.
Thank you for the info. I’ll wait till it gets closer.
I've been to several games in Italy, and each time I have had to have a "named" ticket, and have inevitably been stopped and asked to prove ID. For me, my European drivers licence has always proved sufficient.
I see that on the 19th Napoli are playing Inter Milan in an evening game . I have normally been able to get tickets the day before from the club shop - but these have always been quite low key games whereas at the moment it would be 2nd against 3rd place - so demand will probably be high.
Since by May 19th Juventus will have already mathematically won the championship for the 8th year in a row while both Naples and Inter will likely have both qualified for the following year’s Champion League (top 4 Italian teams in the championship will qualify), I think you will be able to find seats even if you buy tickets on the day of the game. By then nobody will give a damn about that game. With the apparently unbeatable Juve so far ahead already now in January, the championship is over as far as I’m concerned. They could end it now. From now on I’ll just watch the European Champions’ League. Maybe there is a chance Juventus won’t win that one (and even that is likely their win this year).
Sorry, Mike but do you know the cover of mlb1253's passport?
That's why I stated "FWIW". Which stands for "For what it's worth".
