Soccer stadium - experiences

Planning to choose a Serie A or maybe B match to attend the last week of September - first week of October. Our home base will be Florence. We are willing to train to another city, as I don't think Fiorentina plays at home then. We are interested in a memorable experience, good viewing, and a stadium with exciting but still friendly atmosphere. Any favorite stadium experiences to share?
Thank you! Debbie

San Siro in Milan is a bit of a cast concrete monstrosity, but it holds 80.000 and both AC Milan and Inter play their home games there. You can now get there on the Milan Metro. Be sure to get a salumi sandwich at one of the street kiosks on the approach to the stadium.

It looks like the schedule will come out late August and the first games will be August 25.

The 2019-2020 Series A schedule is available. Fiorentina has home matches on Sept 25 and Oct 6 but plays in Milan on Sept 29, which may be when you'll be in Florence. Parma (vs. Torino) would be the closest city with a home match that weekend. I can't find the Series B schedule, but you might check on whether nearby Empoli plays a home match that weekend. Empoli was in Series A last season and so should be one of the better Series B teams this season.

Keep in mind that you'll need your passports when buying tickets and to clear security at the stadium.

Thank you both! I did find the Serie A schedule and will check Serie B, as I am sure going to any match in Italy will be memorable.

Hi Deb,
Please let us know which match you end up going to and how it turns out. We have the same plan for mid to late November. I hope you have a great time and come home with lots of good stories!
