I've left this a bit late, as we're going on Wednesday- but I seem to remember reading about some really nice soap made by Nuns in Florence- does anyone know about it? I'd love to get some.
Thanks!
Maggie-You may have read about the Pharmacia Santa Novella which is located in a convent. Many of the products there are made, I think, from a formula created by monks years ago. It is a very beautiful place and a real treat to visit-wonderful scents fill the entire place. It is located on Via Della Scala not far from the Church, Santa Maria Novella, and the train station. Hope you can find it and have a wonderful trip!
Thank you so much Susan! That's close to where we're staying. You've made my day!
Maggie,
My wife and a I just returned from Santa Maria Novella Perfumery on 29 April 2012. It's on the Southwest side of the church and convent. A truly fascinating place. The one problem it's all under construction for it's 400th anniversary this year. There's one room not under some stage of refurbishing. It still doesn't take away from all the soaps, perfumes, room scents, etc. The staff was very helpful and most spoke excellent English. You'll know you're there by the construction awning over the front door. I talked to the lady restoring the front facade at the front door. We bought a number of items for gifts upon our return to Texas. Have fun.
Thanks Terry!
