My 2004 RS Italy guide shows a direct train line from Florence to Ravenna, which doesn't seem to be the case anymore. According to various web sites, you have to go up to Bologna first then transfer making it a 4 hour one way trip.
Does anyone know of a direct BUS service? Has anyone driven a car to Ravenna and back to Florence on the 67? Interesting stuff along the way?
The fastest train is 2.5 hrs, station to station time only, that's one way--and add time to get to the station, wait for the train, etc. Most of the trains take more like 3 hours. Go here to see the schedules http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/enIt's about 2 hrs of driving, one way, if you go the fastest way which is through Bologna. If you go 67 it's 2 and 1/2 hours each way, same as the train--but then you have to go through the hassle of renting a car, navigating their yourself, etc.I haven't done the drive, and wouldn't (I'd take the train or not even try to do it as a day trip, too much travel time for me)--but from looking at the map I can't see much of interest on 67 (but haven't done the drive so don't know for sure).
The more I study this, the more excited I get. I have two ways to drive. One route is on the "Old Road," the 3/4 width, 10% grade up and down, between Florence and Faenza, and the Second route is on the 67. The F&F looks like way too much fun to pass up on a motorcycle.
There is a question here. Who has driven the 67, and who has driven the firenze-faenza route?
I have driven it, but I don't remember it being any different than other roads in that area when I was there 10 years ago.
