Snow in Milan, Lake Como area?

Planning a trip to Milan and Lake Como areas in January 2025. How often do these areas get snow and how much snow? Is it more prone to get icy rather than actual snowfall?

Thanks to global warming, snow is very rare in Milan nowadays and also at the lake level, given the low altitude. When it does snow, it is generally not very copious and it is generally gone quickly. I wouldn’t plan to bring skis with you unless you go higher in altitude. It might be cold however, especially at night, and it gets dark early (by 5pm) so while in Milan you can always find a lot of activities to keep you busy indoors, if you go to a small town on the lake it might not be as vibrant as in other months, especially if the weather is bad.

We lived on lago maggiore for two years. We saw snowflakes once, melted upon hitting pavement. Milan and como are around same elevation.
