I'd like to purchase a pre-paid cell phone upon or soon after arrival at Rome Fiumicino airport, and Smartphone appears to be the only choice in the airport arrival or departure areas. Can anyone who has purchased from the Smartphone shop share their experience? Suggestions on other Italian cell phone stores that offer good plans would also be welcome. I'm looking for an inexpensive plan that allows me to keep an Italian number indefinitely by adding minutes periodically. For example, I purchased a VIP cell phone plan in Croatia for 199 kuna (about $40) that allows me to keep the number as long as I add pre-paid time every 12 months.
