Has anyone used a small company or private guide to do a whirlwind
tourof Sicily? Say three or four nights? Is this crazy to try to get an overview in such a small amount of time?
We will be in Southern Italy in November doing Rome and the Amalfi Coast but will have a few extra days and could fly in and out of Rome.

Laurie, you might contact Tommaso Pante of Sunway Tours at www.sunway.it. Tommaso is from Messina and is a terrific guide for all parts of Sicily, as well as other parts of Italy and Europe, with many years of experience. He had been a "local guide" for RS tours in northeast Sicily, and now for several years has led tours for RS and others in Sicily and elsewhere. He also knows many other guides and services in Sicily, and if he is not available for your time period, he can probably refer you to others. And yes, Sicily is very wonderful with many diverse experiences and sites! I figured that was important to share)

If you want to do the East side, i.e., Taormina, Mt. Etna, Syracusa and a winery, I used Legendofsicily.com
LOVED my time with them. They only do the East side. But that's all the time you'll have. If you want to do the West side,
I have no recommendations yet. Next year I hope!
