Help! in 2010 we heard about small tours (no large tour groups allowed) behind and under the alter at St. Peters. I believe it was a Necropolis. It was fascinating. Are these tours still done and how do we get reservations?
Thank you!

We took the Vatican Scavi tour in 2019. It was amazing! At that time, you could give them a few different dates of when you would be in Rome, and they selected your tour date and time for you. It looks like it still works that way. I used this website to get information. Absolutely do this tour if you can!!
Judy, just backing up slbdaisy here: The website they gave you is the official one for acquiring reservations for their very reasonably priced tour of the basilica's scavi.
Here are some descriptions of that tour from some RS posters who've taken it:

Do take note of visitor regulations and items, including cameras, (no photos allowed on the tour) that must be checked. :O)
