I want to get our hotel owner a gift from here in the US saying "Thanks!". I can't think of something that they couldn't just buy over in Italy. Any suggestions would be great!

Bring something unique to either the US or your part of the country. There are travel books about Minnesota,pretty calendars, unique foods (like we have hazelnut candy and marionberry jam made in Oregon), maybe a Native American product (we were surprised to see a huge, enthusiastic crowd surrounding a performance by Native Americans in the Piazza Novanna in Rome over Christmas!), American music, or perhaps a local MN group,touristy, usable gifts like pot holders or kitchen towels that show your part of the country...the list goes on. People really appreciate little acts of kindness that evoke thoughts of far away places.

Have family in Italy. Recently brought the men in the family a gift that represents the USA. Baseball bats, gloves, and a variety of balls. They keep them on their mantel and show it off as much as possible.
