My friend and I are both college students. We are planning to stay in Sorrento and use it as a home base while we travel to capri and cities along the amalfi coast. We are looking for an affordable place to stay. Any recommendations for $100 or less per night?(less would be best (: ) Also do you recommend staying in the center of sorrento or is outside okay too? Ive been finding more places outside of sorrento but not sure if outside is a bad idea. Please let me know

Outside is ok if u are on the bus route. Sorrento is getting quite pricey, hopefully a hostel may work for u. If u are lookng for summer lodging book asap.

You might try Hotel Desiree which should be in the price range you mentioned. It's on the edge of town right next to La Tonnarella, but only about a 10-12 minute walk from the city centre. As I recall, it shares beach facilities with Tonnarella. The owners are very nice and for budget accommodations, it's a good choice.

We booked Villa Monica B&B for 5 nights in Oct for 90E a night. Check it out on TripAdvisor - it's the #2 B&B in Sorrento and has just won an award. We discovered it here on the RS forums and then researched it. You will not need a car - they shuttle you into Sorrento many times a day and can help you set up day trips to many places. They are in Sorrento a few miles from the Historic area where they will transport you. They have been very helpful for us already via Email. Read the TripAdvisor reviews & photos.

Check out the Ulisse Deluxe Hostel-----its just got regular hotel rooms and also dorm type room----the facility is excellent--the breakfast far better than most hostels---and the public areas are like a fine hotel. Its just off the main drag and within easy walking distance of the Marina Picola-------there is also a small market next store.

look at Hotel il Nido - it's above the city with free shuttle bus service. Their online deals are excellent - and can include dinner (along with a wonderful breakfast). I've stayed there several times and wouldn't even consider staying any place else.
