Staying for 4 nights next September. Looking for sea view, nice place, not too far from Town. Mid price. No more than 1200$ for the 4 nights. Any ideas? Thanks.
Hi Rob. We stayed at Palazzo Montefusco Relais in Sorrento in September and loved it! No sea view but ideally located just off Piazza Tasso and close to everything. It's the #1 rated B&B in Sorrento (on Trip Advisor) and for good reason. The rooms are super comfortable, clean and modern and the staff is extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet is beautifully displayed and every day features a new homemade cake. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Our room overlooked one of the main streets which at night becomes a pedestrian-only area and is very lively. Have a great trip!
September is still high season in Sorrento. For your budget(for a double room?) you should be able to stay in an in-town seafront hotel but sea view bedrooms in the hotel would cost more. However, if you choose one of the hotels a block or two inland the bedrooms on higher floors will have sea views.
Why not put your dates and budget into a booking site eg Venere.com or Booking.com to get some idea of what is on offer? Also use Google Streetview and have a look at location etc.
We just stayed at Hotel Settimo Cielo in October for 5 nights for about 90 Euro's/night (higher if not paid in cash). It was right above Marina Grande on Via Capo and is an easy 10 minute walk to Sorrento's main street. The view is fantastic and in my opinion even better than the Minerva across the street, because Settimo Cielo is on the downhill side. Both places have great view. Hotel Settimo Cielo is a 3 star while the Minerva is 4 star and considerably more expensive. Hotel Settimo Cielo is family owned, has a wonderful breakfast with a view. I agree the furnishings are a little bit dated, but each unit has a balcony with a view. I spent more than one night with a glass of wine and my favorite Italian Opera songs. We would happily go back. Sorrento is a wonderful town. Enjoy your stay.
We've stayed at Hotel La Tonnarella on 3 separate trips and love it. It's on via Capo and an easy and beautiful 10 min downhill walk into town. Easy to take bus back if tired at the end of the day. They have a private beach which we really enjoyed, great breakfast buffet, terraces, flowers, a wonderful restaurant and unbelievably amazing views.
Rob,
Some of the hotels you could consider in Sorrento....
- Hotel Settimo Cielo - as described in a previous reply, great views over the bay and not too far from the main part of town.
- Hotel La Tonnarella - it's a bit further from town, but not really a long walk. Also great views over the bay, especially from the restaurant at night.
- Hotel Desiree - right next to La Tonnarella and more of a budget choice, but perfectly comfortable. Many of the speak English and are wonderful. As I recall, it shares a beach with Tonnarella.
Happy travels!
Rob,
Two years my wife and I stayed at Maison LaMinervetta. It is a small boutique hotel that is just awesome. It would more than likely fill your budget but you would not be sorry. Its a little far from the center along the main road but it was nothing I couldnt handle on foot. Google it and you will WANT to stay there
Rob,
We spent 5 nights at Hotel Minerva in Sorrento (Rick Steve's Italy book recommendation) back in April. It's up the hill on Via Capo, but easy walk to/from town. When we arrived by train, we walked to the hotel instead of the bus. If I recall, we paid 135 Euros a night, but June will probably be more expensive. They have a pool (not yet open, outdoor deck and views over the bay and of Mt Vesuvius. Highly recommended.
