Judy,

You might have a look at the website for Hotel Corso in Orvieto. It's a very comfortable small Hotel, only a short walk from the Funicular station.

Happy travels!

We stayed at Hotel Corso and liked it as well--very clean and a great location--especially if you're traveling by train as it's just up the hill from the funicular on the main street.

We had some of our most memorable meals in Orvieto!

We just found the Magnolia Inn perfect. It is simple but at the best location by the Cathedral, shopping and farmers market. We paid 65 euros(triple) with frescoed ceilings, barnished wood floors and a new bathroom with great shower. You want to request the ones in the back. She also has a slightly larger one great for extended stays. It's in a three story building with a small quiet cafe/wine bar on the street level run by her brothers and great for people watching, the rooms (5-6) on the second floor and she lives on the third floor. Serena is responsive, doesn't request a deposit and the inn is recommmeded by both RS and on tripadvisor.

If you want an apartment, B&B Casa Flavia was quite nice. 70 euro a night (this was low-season), no deposit required. Roberta (very nice -- speaks some, not great english) picked us up at the top of the funicular. The rooms are spacious and airy, although if you're traveling with anyone tall (6' or higher) they'll have to duck when passing through the doorway to the bedroom, which has a large queen or king bed and a twin. The living room also has a pull out sofa.

It's on a quiet side street right off one of the main roads through town and there is a bakery downstairs, and a cafe down the street. We didn't get to use it much, but they have a lovely little outdoor terrace that would be wonderful in May.

Hi Judy,
We stayed at a beautiful B&B called "Casa Selita". It is just outside of the Orvieto city walls so we could walk to/from "old" Orvieto easily. Definitely check it out. If you can't find it's website try BBplanet.it. Orvieto is one of our most memorable small towns in Italy. Enjoy your time there!

I've stayed at the Corso, and it is nice;

But on our last trip, we stayed at the Villa Mercede-just around the corner from the Duomo, private parking (in town!), beautiful garden, quiet, peaceful; Padre Tonino was very accomodating, the room was clean and nice, breakfast typical. Very nice place-

We stayed at the Magnolia too and loved it - so central to everything, spotless, quiet and reasonable.

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions. I finally decided to stay at La Rocca just outside Orvieto. It looks very nice, so we will see.

Rick has lots of information in his book. I booked the Valentina B&B from his book for Orvieto on our upcoming trip.

Hi Katherine---Judy was asking this question 4 years ago and has not been back. It is unlikely she will see your request. You should start a new thread all your own with questions about lodging in or near Orvieto. That people people can address your particular likes and dislikes.
