Sleeping in Bologna

We will be staying 1 night in Bologna at the end of March, though RS doesn't recommend any hotels here in his guidebooks, does anyone have any recommendations of their own? We are hoping to spend somewhere around 100 EUR.

Many Thanks!

I quite liked the Hotel Paradise. Should be well under 100 euros, great quiet location only a few min walk from the main sites, clean, comfy, friendly, good breakfast, etc.

I'm arriving in Bologna a couple of days before my RS tour starts in Venice beginning of March. I booked a room for two nights online at the Mercure Centro - 75 Euros ea night. It's close to the train station. The website has nice pictures. I'll find out.

there are some hotels people have recommended in the past; use the search box in the top right and you can find earlier discussions.

Try looking at Venere.com for prices then you can look at Tripadvisor for reviews. Tons to choose from.

Just FYI - Bologna is a major convention city, and hotel rates can fluctuate wildly from week to week depending on demand.

I stayed in UNA hotel Bologna in late May 2009. A double was 70 euro a night, including a fantastic breakfast. The place was funky and quite nice, right in front of the train station.

I just returned from Bologna (May 2010). I found that the Hotel Paradise was absolutely fabulous! 85 Euro a night including a very nice breakfast. The hotel personnel were very, very friendly and helpful. When I arrived (I had made a reservation one month prior) they allowed me to pick my room (they gave me the keys to two rooms and told me to go and choose one). Clean, modern and quiet. If you have an option, pick a room on the top (3rd) floor and you'll have a skylight over your bed and one in the bathroom! Hotel Paradise really made my Bologna stay enjoyable! I will absolutely stay there on next visit. Try it. Their website is easy to find and easy to book your room. Thanks to the person who recommended Hotel Paradise to me on this page! A+.

Really glad to hear you had the same good experience with the Paradise that I did!

I was in Bologna last September and stayed at Mecure Bologna across the street from the train station. It is a 10 minute walk to the city center. I was taking a day trip to Ravenna from there so it worked out perfectly. The hotel was ok. I did not care for the service. People at the reception area are cold. You have to leave your room key behind every time you go out so you have no choice but to deal with them. They were helpful and professional...just not very friendly!
