Anyone have any suggestions about accommodations in Bologna in September? Again we're two older experienced travelers and would like something comfortable but not extravagant.
I stayed in Albrego Centrale in Bologna - It is right around the corner from the main square and a perfect location for everything. I walked all over Bologna and found it to be wonderful.
You can read about Albrego Centrale on tripadvisor and even make a reservation via that site.
I always stay at Hotel San Donato at via Zamboni 16. They have a great breakfast included in the price and it is a central location....lots to do within walking distance...San Petrino Church, fountain, piazza and a great daily market place for purchasing the necessities for a picnic lunch. It is very clean and the rooms are a little bigger than most hotels rooms in Italy. They have a website and I have booked online twice and had no problems whatsoever.
If it's in your budget, look at the Hotel Commercianti. It's right off the Piazza Maggiore, the rooms are lovely, and the breakfast spread is amazing. http://www.art-hotel-commercianti.it/index.html
In Sept. 2010 my husband and I stayed at Albergo Drapperie in Bologna which is located in the heart of bologna. www.albergodrapperie.com Was in a great location and perfectly comfortable. Check out "Eataly" which is closeby.
