Hello all! I hope you can help me. I am going to Italy for a month and am leaving next Tuesday. I was trying to resolve the difficulties surrounding how to stay in contacts with the folks back home and I discovered Skype. For those who don't know, it allows *free calls to other skype users and can offer very low rates to non-skype users. For those who do know about it, how can I make calls form the internet since you have download the software and most coffee shop computers won't let you download anything? The other option is to get a Skype wireless phone, but where can I get one in Italy? I can pay over $120 online now, but if I buy it in a store over there it would be free since I have a monthly subscription. Sorry to be long winded, and I hope you know what I am talking about. Please help!

Most all internet cafes have Skype already installed on their terminals....it's one of the main reasons travelers use internet cafes these days.

Thanks for the reply. I did not know that. However, I still would like to have the phone as well. Does anyone know where I can purchse a Skype phone in Italy? I will be flying to Milan.

Have you tried ebay??
I don't use the skype phone (as I bring my mini netbook) but I do use ebay to get my unlocked cell phone, and then buy the SIM when I get to the country.
