Skip Verona overnight (Venice to Dolomites)?

I'm looking for some opinions and thoughts regarding Verona.

We had a travel agent recommend we stop in Verona and spend two days, one night between Venice and Dolomites. I cut it down to one day, one night in Verona, but this causes a logistical issue in that we'll hit Bolzano on Monday when the Ice man museum is closed and that is the primary reason for going to Bolzano at all.

We'll be in Venice for 2 full days (3 nights). Right now we're only in Ortisei for 2 1/2 days (2 nights).

I'm torn between keeping a day and night in Verona and having the stay in Ortisei being just 2 1/2 days and the alternate of not staying overnight in Verona, but just stopping for lunch and seeing the arena and then onto Ortisei for 3 nights.

What would you recommend?!

Thanks!!

Yes, stopping in Verona for a few hours is sufficient, if that means not taking away from time in Venice or Ortisei. And why are you talking to travel agents anyway? You can get a cheap Regionale Veloce train at 7:12 or 8:12 that is almost as fast the Freccia train. The 8:12 will get you there at 9:39 and you can store you luggage at the station and see the town for a few hours and have lunch, then continue to Bolzano.

Yes, Sam, I've learned my lesson! Exactly why I'm now questioning the advice. ;)

Definitely easy to store bags at the Verona train station. I think its what many people do on the way to the Dolomites or Munich, which is what we did. It was a bit busy when we went back to pick up our bags but just allow a few extra minutes. Its very easy to take the city bus into the centre, spend the day, have lunch and then head back to the train station. Verona is lovely and if you just have the day it makes a worth while stop.

Ah, fair Verona. I loved Verona ... climbed the bell tower for a lovely view, walked the old town, had the MOST DELICIOUS prosciutto and melon EVER at a small cafe near the Colosseum, even the touristy Romeo and Juliet balcony is fun ... parks are stunning. Walked the bridges across the river. I recommend you don't short-change fair Verona.

Sights in Verona are mostly clustered together. While i enjoyed our 3 night visit, it can be done as a daytrip easily.
