SKIP THE LINE Tickets @ Vatican

Hey guys, I'll be going to France this September to celebrate my cousins wedding which will be in the Dordogne. I decided that since I'm already in France, I might as well should just go to Rome and spend a couple of days there. I recently bought Rick Steves' Pocket Rome guidebook and noticed something in the "Vatican Museum Tour" orientation page. It said that I could buy skip-the-line tickets from the TI kiosk to the left of St. Peter's Basilica. I know it's much better to buy the tickets online, but just in case, is it 100% true that the TI kiosk sells these same-day skip-the-line tickets? Also, what is the exact address/location of the kiosk? (I can't seem to be able to see it on Google Earth street view) Thanks a million guys :)

Yes, you can buy tickets there but they add on a hefty fee. If you know you're going then you should just buy tickets online and save a little money. From what I remember the booth is to the right of the basilica as you look at it.

I seem to recall it was about 5 euros more than you would pay if booked online, but I'm not 100% certain.

Here is what Rick's soon-to-be-released 2015 Rome book says about same-day tickets:

You can often buy same-day, skip-the-line tickets (for the same €20 online price) through the TI in St. Peter’s Square (to the left, as you face the basilica). Also, the Roma Cristiana tour company sells same-day tickets for a pricey €27.50 (entrances almost hourly, Opera Romana Pellegrinaggi office in front of St. Peter’s Square, Piazza Pio XII 9, tel. 06-6980-6380, www.operaromanapellegrinaggi.org). If their kiosk is closed, try the nearby storefront labeled Opera Romana Pellegrini, just in front of the square, which also sometimes sells these tickets.

We do recommend most highly just reserving in advance to be on the safe side. The best website to do that is http://mv.vatican.va
