Skip The Line Tickets

Are they worth it? Any particular site I should buy them from? I feel like when I go to most official sites they don't offer a skip the line option. I do not want to spend a lot of time in line and I don't mind spending a little extra if needed. I just wasn't sure what to expect and if I should buy them. I listed below the sites I am looking into. The one I was most concerned about was Duomo Milan. On their offical site they have lift tickets to the roof for the 5:30-6:00 time slot. Are they pretty good at getting you in during that 30 minute window? Especially if they close at 7, I don't want to get there at 5:30 and not get up there until 6:30 because of wait time. Thanks for all your help!

Official sites don't offer a skip the line options because:

  • nobody skips the security line
  • everybody with an online-purchased ticket skips the line to purchase tickets on the day (I copied this sentence from TripAdvisor, sorry!)
  • there isn't a third line to skip

In other words, official sites do not offer skip-the-line tickets because they are not interested in making you believe you can avoid the lines by paying more.

Are they pretty good at getting you in during that 30 minute window?

It's not particularly difficult, they have to get in only those who booked that 30' time slot.

Absolutely get the tickets beforehand for St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge Palace. Like Dario said, you still have to go through security but it is easier because you don't have to wait in the ticket line. At the Doge palace we were the first ones in while there was 50 people in the ticket line. The first person in the ticket line wasn't even done buying their ticket by the time we were already through security. The same goes for St. Marks. The line to buy the ticket was absolutely horrendous. Had to of been 300 people in line. We had our timed entry and went straight up, and through security and were inside in less than 3 min. Def get the ticket that lets you see all at St. Marks. You are allowed to go up and its a great view from above.

This helps. I feel like I had read somewhere that there was a fast pass line, regular line, tour lines, it all got a little confusing. Other sites selling tickets, wasn't sure which ones we should buy.
