I currently planning a trip to ski the dolomites the first and second weeks of January. Im looking for info regarding the best area to look for lodging. Thank you

This is a huge ski area with many options. It’s stunning. We are returning to hike next June. Do you want more information of where to stay let me know.

Val Gardena/Gröden as recommended by Richard is one of the 4 ski resorts that are connected via “Sella ronda” into one unique experience.

You could look for lodging in any of the villages in the linked map.
I would recommend St. Christina, Wolkenstein or Canazei.
Please consider that 1st week of January is high season and it will be hard to find good lodging, while 2nd week will be much more relaxed (no school holidays).
