How early in the year do the slopes open? Looks like I'll be there either of the first two weeks of December. I know this can be an iffy time for skiing in parts of the US. Anybody have any experiences in Italy?

Thanks for the private messages answering my first question. It looks like the first two weeks of December should be safe for good snow cover.
Follow-up question. Has anyone been to Cervinia? Knowing how isolated Zermat is on the other side of the Matterhorn, how accessable is Cervninia from the nearest airport? And is it a small little town (like Murren) or a major resort (like Garmisch)?
