Size of Ford Focus Clipper

We have 5 people (1 man & 4 small ladies) each will have a carry-on size bag. Do you think the Ford Clipper will be big enough? Thanks

Depends on the answers to many questions, including the following: 1. How well do you know each other? 2. How much do you like each other? 3. How much time do you anticipate being in the car at a stretch?
4. Have you considered the option of traveling by train instead?

1. We know each other very well 2. We like each other (we have all been away before & all went well) 3. We are driving form Rome to San Gimignano-about 2hrs. From San Gig to CInque Terra approx. another 2hrs. the longest will be Cinque Terre to Venice, I'm guessing approx. 4-5hrs but we can always stop.
4. Yes that was our original plan but then we decided to go to San Gimignano and you need a car. The reason I was asking the quote we got for the Clipper is approx. $100 less. That money can come in handy for something else but I do not want to make everyone miserable.

I've never heard of the clipper variant until you mentioned it. I've always thought of a Focus as a small 4 seater a little bigger than a Fiesta. I found a review which may be helpful to you. Bear in mind that if you are offered a car class you are will likely be given a different car. The class is only a guide to type of car, not a specific car.

Hi Mary; When we visited Italy last Fall we rented a Ford Focus Station wagon, It was fine for four. Carry-on baggage is definitely the way to go!
Try to get a GPS with European Maps, it will be valuable!

Mary Please consider the following: Have you ever traveled by car with these 5 people? Europe?
Or the US? What size car? Of course, one could always use an additional $100, but the cost of the larger car (how much larger in the next class?) is only $20 more per person. Perhaps I skimmed the review too fast but I couldn't get a sense of the number of people recommended for the car. Usually the rental car agency website shows the number of people (with human figures adult/child size) plus the # of pieces of luggage recommended for the car. I definitely would not go over the number of people. I also think they exaggerate the number of people who can really fit in the car. I can just see you all with your luggage in your laps and the driver with his knees hitting the dashboard! Let us know what you decide and how it works out when you return! Bobbie

Hi Bobby The website says 5 people with 1 large bag & 2 small bags. So if this is accurate we may have to put one bag up front. But I was able to get a slightly bigger car for only $60 more so I think that is what we may do. We are going to try and research the car sizes again tonight & make our final decision. Thanks
