Amalfi Coast - Sita Bus Tickets

HI, I have been cruising various travel forums lately in preparation for our upcoming trip. I have been reading that it has become increasingly difficult to purchase the Sita bus tickets along the Amalfi coast. Some agents who are listed saying they don't sell tickets. Has anyone encountered this? We are a family of 4 (2 teenage girls) staying a week on the coast in July. I was just wondering if anyone has come across this as well or have any other suggestions or accurate locations for ticket purchases. I know the Ferry is also an option, but as we are staying in Praiano, we still need to be able to get to Positano or Amalfi for the Ferry. Thanks!

I spent several days on the Amalfi Coast May 2017.
Sita bus was easy.
And cheap. Most trips were less than 2€ each way.
I stayed Airbnb in Atrani.
Short walk into Amalfi to buy tickets at the bus depot building across the bus parking area.
I used buses to hike the Path of the Gods, to get into Sorrento, Positano, Ravello.
It’s a grand adventure to watch these huge behemoth buses navigate the narrow road. Great entertainment.

Single trip tickets can be purchased, just be aware they have a time limit.
There are several different time and price levels. There is also a 24 hour ticket, 10€. Unlimited travel. I don't know why it's not called a daily ticket, as most transport ends at 10pm.

With your location, you may need to figure out which type of tickets are best for your family.

we were there last year in may and had no difficulty buying them at the tobacco shops. but did have to wait in line for a bus, as they were full. then when we did get on board it was 'crazy' full. hope you have a good trip.
we opted for a driver and private car ( on two of our trips along the coast- sorrento to amalfi) and while it was more expensive it was 'heaven' compared to being in 'cattle class' on the bus and got a guided tour commentary of the coast
the ferry was not running when we were there, due to the sea,( stopping at positano) so be prepared . eg: get up early to check your options for the day.

hope this helps.

We were just on the A.C. last October and you should have no problem buying bus tickets at a newstand, tobacco shop or bar/cafe. Tickets are cheap, for example, a SITA bus tkt AC4 from Amalfi town to Sorrento (or vice versa) was 2.90 Euro. We also took the bus from Amalfi town to Ravello (bought return tkts at the same time), SITA bus tkt AC1 was 1.30 Euro. Don't worry about what tkt to buy. Just tell them where you want to go and they will know what tkt you need. When you get on the bus you will validate/stamp it in the machine or the bus driver will tear them. Here is a link to the "full directions to local public transport"

Also fyi so as not to be confused...on the above info when they use the word "printed" they mean stamped or validated.
*SITA buses are often red or green & white, travel the A.Coast.
*EAV buses are Sorrento city buses traveling in Sorrento and surrounding countryside/hills(not to Positano/Amalfi town, etc.) and usually orange & white or red.

*You can find the schedules to buses, train, boats etc. on this link:
http://www.sorrentotourism.com/en/ferry-and-jet-services.php

I always print out the bus, boat, train, etc schedules before we leave home. The current A.Coast bus schedules only goes till June 10 and then they will post a new one. May not change much. you may want to familiarize yourself with the key to reading the bus schedules re. days of the week.
R.S. book explains this. All the above info is from the Sorrento tourism website.

Also check our www.positano.com www.capri.com lots of good A.C. info here and schedules too.
Have visited the area 4x now and always stayed in Sorrento. We enjoy taking the boat to Positano or Amalfi T. and the bus back or vice versa. Have done it both ways. We drove through Praino last fall and saw the beautiful domed church. Let me know if you have any more questions and Buon Viaggio!!!

we were in Sorrento late Sept 2017 and went to the Amalfi coast twice via bus, the first time with Sita and the second with City sightseeing bus. The sita bus was packed extremely full. I was against strangers for 1.5 hours around sharp, constant turns and it was extremely hot with no air moving. Several people became ill, including my husband due to the conditions. The second trip was with the city sightseeing bus which was slightly more expensive than the cheap SITA tickets and worth every penny, they had fans and guaranteed a seat. Look into using them, you can get information at any of the TI's.
