I will be in the Amalfi coast in July and based in Sorrento for 4 days. I was wondering if the Sita bus has air conditioning and if not how bad is it in the summer.

The bus has split windows and we had to open them up when we were there just a couple of weeks' ago. The bus was packed and I stood from Sorrento until Positino when a lot of people got off. If it has air, it's pretty weak!
On our return that evening, still had to open the windows even though it wasn't as crowded.

if you're boarding in Sorrento to go down the coast, sit on the right side of the bus.

The modern buses all have a/c, but the drivers usually don't turn it on except during the hot season.

Were there in mid-July and took the bus from Sorrento to Positano and don't recall being uncomfortable. We took the boat back from Positano to Sorrento and it was beautiful!

The bus I was on had vents, which brought in cool air; note however, that my SITA bus out of Sorrento did not have windows that could open. Yes, fight your way on to get a seat on the right side.

I was there in May a couple years ago and was not uncomfortable at all. Just make certain that the ticket you purchase has not already been validated. Some British tourists on our bus were almost fined because their tickets had previously been validated although they had just purchased them. I think it was a local scam between the ticket seller and the bus inspector.
