Sistene Chapel early morning or night tour

Hi

This might be a long shot. I am trying to figure out what/how to book the Sistine Chapel tour for this Friday. I have ran into many travelers last week that said I need to do it. I am leaning towards doing Roman Guys or Walks of Italy. Want to get as much out of it as I can. I have a couple options.

Friday night tour. It starts at 7 PM. I have the Colosseum scheduled at 2:45. I am thinking that I will have enough time.

Friday early morning tour before it opens to the public.

Trying to figure out how to get both done this Friday. Both would avoid crowds

Hi thefer,

Presuming your visit to the Colosseum will include all the sites - your visit should be about 3 hours.

The distance between the Colosseum and the Vatican is not that close unless you take a taxi - about 15 minutes.

If you are a very early riser, then maybe the 7 a.m. tour would be better at The Vatican.

Perhaps then, when you exit the Vatican, you'll have time to grab something to eat and be on your way to the Colosseum.

I don't know if you have an interest, but it would be a shame to miss out on visiting St. Peter's basilica. After the Sistine Chapel, you are exited out a back door directly to and in front of the Basilica.

If you take the 7 a.m. tour, you would have a bit of time to visit some of the Basilica.

An added thought - If you end up taking a taxi from the Colosseum to Vatican City for the night tour, make sure the taxi driver knows exactly which spot to drop you off for your meeting place.

You don't want to be dropped off at the Vatican area and then have to walk 10 minutes to your meeting place.

Thefer,

For some easy comparison, here are the links for The Vatican

https://www.walksofitaly.com/rome-tours/pristine-sistine-chapel-tour/ Starts at 7:00 AM - Three hours - 45 mins. You'll get a tour of St. Peter's** too. I would definitely be at meeting place at least 15 minutes before.

https://theromanguy.com/tours/italy/italy-best-sellers/vatican-gold-tour-with-sistine-chapel Starts at 7:10 AM (but let's call it 7:00 AM anyway) - Two hours. No tour of St. Peter's but "access" to it after The Sistine - as I mentioned above.

https://theromanguy.com/tours/italy/deal-italy-tours-under-80/vatican-museums-evening-tour - Starts at 7 PM - Two hours

So, if you choose one of the early AM Vatican/Sistine tours, you'll still be okay to make the Colosseum tour - The Forum and The Hill.

Here is the link to see what Rome's official taxi is like - https://www.romewise.com/taxi-in-rome.html

Still, if you prefer the night Vatican tour, just keep in mind the time to exit the Colosseum sites, grab a taxi and "maybe get caught up" in the later afternoon traffic.

A bus would not be time efficient. Nor would walking.
