The above 2 sites sell a combined ticket for 13.50 Euros which is cheaper than buying separate tickets for each of them (10 & 8 Euros). Does anyone know if you must visit both sites on the same day or is it a multi-day tkt.? I checked their website and could not find anything on this. We leave Monday for 3 weeks in Sicily. Can't wait!
Janet,
The combined ticket can be used within 3 days.
I bought my combined ticket when I visited the Archeological Park (this past May) and intended to visit the museum a couple of days later but was too busy strolling/shopping around Ortigia,
and taking a day trip to Noto!
I have a good excuse to return, especially since Ortigia became my favorite place in Sicily!
BTW, if you want a delicious meal in Ortigia, make sure you visit my favorite trattoria; Sicilia in Tavola, and try the pasta alla Norma, the caponata Siracusana and their super yummy tiramisú made just for you!
Have a wonderful trip!
Thank you Priscila! Have taken notes on Sicilia in Tavola and sounds delish!
Janet,
If forgot to tell you. The best gelato in Noto and Ortigia is at ‘Gelateria Gusto’.
Pistachio is one of my favorite flavors!
Enjoy!
Thank you Priscilla! Made notes on the gelato! We arrived in Ragusa this afternoon, Tues, for 3 nights. Will daytrip from here to Modica and Noto before heading to Siracusa/Ortygia for 3 nights. Had gelato today at Gelati DiVini on Piazza Duomo. They have some wine flavored gelato. The 2 flavors i had were Muscat and prickly pear (Fico d'India) which were good but I do love pistachio which they didnt have. Hadn't even eaten a Fico d'india till sat. at breakfast at our b&b in Agrigento.
Quite a surprise they eat prickly pear fruit in Sicily. In AZ it is left to the wildlife to eat it.
The pistachios are incredible and used so many ways in Sicilian food preparations.
There's a special combo--don't remember the name--that is almond plus a little dab of intense coffee gelato (or perhaps it was granite). The coffee's so strong I can't imagine eating it by itself, but the combo is great. I had it in Noto. I don't remember whether I encountered it anywhere else.
We have seen the prickly pear fruit at a number of mkts in Sicily--red, yellow, green. Arrived in Palermo today and saw lots of them at Ballero mkt too. We have eaten them several times and they are quite good but seeds are big and quite hard.
