I will be in Siracusa in mid February and want to get to Agrigento using public transport (not on a Sunday). Anyone have any recent experience with either bus or train? It looks as though either way involves multiple changes and so a long journey but maybe I'm missing something? Thanks for any tips.
Haven't done it myself, but the best way is to go from Siracusa to Catania Airport using the Interbus bus company (70 min journey for just over 6 euro)

Then from the Catania airport there is a direct bus every 1 to 2 hours, with the SAIS company. (3 hour journey for just over 13 euro)

I'd say that in the best of circumstances you are looking at a 5 hour trip by bus altogether, so I would also consider the possibility of renting a car in Siracusa and drive the 2 and 1/2 hours from Siracusa to Agrigento. That is what I have ever done (in reverse).
Thanks, that bus and then bus plan is fine - I am happy to watch the world go by or read but will definitely pay attention to the scheduling.
