Single accomodation in Rome..where to stay

I will be traveling to northern Italy mid June then on to a 10 day cruise. I will have 2 nights in Rome before coming back to the states. After have been on the road and site seeing for the past 20 days I really want a place in Rome that is safe and comfortable. I will see a couple of sites but not push myself. I plan to come back again and spend more time on Rome.

I wanted a apartment but seems like they want a 3 day min. comittment. Any suggestions of hotels or b&bs?

Thanks

peggy,

If you have a copy of the Italy Guidebook at hand, there are lots of listings for "Rick approved" accommodation in various parts of Rome.

Two specific properties you could check out are Casa San Guiseppe (in the Trastevere area) and Hotel Aberdeen (in the Termini area).

Happy travels!

Try Maison dell'Orologio, a small B&B very close to the Tiber just on the other side of the river from the Vatican. We just stayed there for a week and it was wonderful. The rooms are a little small by American standards but they were just redone and were nice and clean. Very reasonable price and the girl who took care of us speaks good English. There are lots of good restaurants close by and its not a bad walk to Piazza Navrona, Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon in addition to being close to St. Peters.

Peggy, I did 5 weeks in Europe by myself as a 30th birthday trip - coolest thing I ever did. Now my husband and I are going back with our three sons. I stayed at Casa Maria Immacolata - a convent. It was just such a neat experience. Clean, good food.

The have a we page.

Have a great, great, time.

I'll be staying at Hotel Aberdeen for the 3rd time in two years in June. I love the location, just a 10-15 min. walk from the termini, lots of great restaurants, close to buses and the metro and right across from the Ministry of Defense-so a very safe neighborhood.

I do recommend Aberdeen. It is comfy, quiet and safe. Nice neighborhood that is convienent to Termini (train to airport and Metro). You may want to consider a double size room though as their singles are "snug."

The Aberdeen does have nice singles. If it's full, 2 others with nice single accomodations for around 80-85 euro are Hotel Giardino and Hotel Italia. Both are in Rick's guidebook. I've stayed at all 3 hotels multiple times, and would say that all are safe and comfortable.
