We need to buy SIM cards for our US ATT cell phones as soon as we arrive in Venice airport. Where can we buy them and how much they cost. Although I can buy them in advance in US for ~ $50 ( 5 minutes) I have heard it is much cheaper in Italy.

you first need to make sure that the phone is unlocked. The cell store should be able to do it for you. I don't think there is anywhere to get a SIM card at the airport. It is a pretty small airport. But once you get to the city keep a heads up for a cell phone store. you can ask your hotel where to get one too.
I don't remeber there being a cell store at Marco Polo. However there is a TIM store in Venice. I believe it is on RIo Tera de la Madalena or Strada Nova.
You'll need to get your phones unlocked by ATT before you go.
