SIM cards

Where is the best place to purchase a SIM card for cell phone use in Italy? at airport? in US? also, should I get another SIM card for Croatia? or can I use the same card? Thanks

EU rules require fee-free roaming, so whatever SIM solution you arrive at will work both in Italy and Croatia.

Personally, I'd identify the cell phone company you'd like to use, before boarding your transatlantic flight. Then I'd locate their retail outlet nearest your first hotel, save its location on a downloaded Google Map, and head there right after checking in to buy a prepaid SIM plan. Buying one online while still in the US is much costlier.

Vodafone, TIM, Wind3 are the largest providers in Italy.

Select one of their stores near your locations. Some airports have a store (for example Rome Fiumicino has a TIM store), but otherwise there are plenty of mobile phone stores in the city centers.
