SIM card in Italy?- TIM vs. Bodafone vs. Three SIM card?

I need to get connected to the internet while traveling in Italy. I would rather not use the roaming service by Verizon.
Did anyone use Three sim card (which you can buy from amazon dot come in the U.S. and insert the SIM card when you arrive in Italy) or TIM or Bodafone (purchase in Italy). I am wondering which option will give me a better connection.
I would apprecaite if you can share your experience with any SIM card among the three. Thank you!

I’ve been happy with the Vodafone SIM card I’ve bought in Italy.

Enjoy your trip!

TIM is the largest provider in Italy. I’ve used their cards on last few trips. Their Tim Tourist card includes 15 gigs of data vs. Vodafone Holiday card 2 gigs. Both run same price. I’ve been totally satisfied with their service.

Please be aware that Tim's plan does not include texts. You can receive as many texts as you want, but you can't reply the same way.
Many US Americans use all the complimentary credit and block the SIM texting home without even realizing it (read receipts when they receive a message from home, iMessage connecting in background with Apple servers via text etc.).

Buying a Sim without providing a copy of your passport is illegal in Italy. Are you sure amazon is not selling you a second hand SIM? You are messing with Italian anti-terrorism laws here, Do not take it lightly. Can you post a link to the Amazon's page?

I used the Three SIM card for our trip to Italy in May and had no problems. I could send and receive texts from Italian numbers; I didn't try US numbers. I had service everywhere we went in Tuscany. When we dropped off the car in La Spezia and took the train to Cinque Terre I had no service however it was working the next morning. I have no idea why this happened.
