SIM Card in Italy

This may be the wrong forum to talk about this, but we are traveling to Italy in a few months and are going to make the BIG jump and purchase a SIM card for our iPhones. In the U.S. The are a number of carriers (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, ect) all which have better or worse service in any area. Is that the case in Italy and is any one carrier better than another?

We just bought a SIM card from Eurobuzz (many others on this forum have, too) for $9.00. We have a Verizon, Galaxy S5 and they come unlocked. Check to see if your phone is unlocked, otherwise you need a code to unlock. We just set them up and were fine. We don't plan to talk often, just to confirm reservations, etc. As far as data, try to make sure you are in a wifi spot, which most hotels are, and then it is free. Eurobuzz offers cheaper plans than Verizon, not sure about other carriers.

Service is pretty standard among the top companies (TIM, Vodaphone, Wind, for example). You can buy the card and have it installed at one of the stores, major train stations have stores in their shopping areas.
