Little more information might help - where you are from, what service you currently have, what phone you are using, etc......

A SIM card bought in Italy should work in all other European countries, including Austria and Switzerland.
When you buy it, double check this is so, and that there will no roaming charges. Switzerland is not in the EU, so some companies may charge for roaming there.

  • A SIM card bought in Italy will have an Italian phone number.
  • You will need an unlocked GSM phone to put the card in. If you haven't got one, the cheapest dumb phone will cost about €20
  • I don't know what electrical system Kuwait uses (sorry). Make sue your charge works on 240V 50Hz electricity, and you have the correct plug adapter.

You can go to any cell phone shop to pick up a prepaid sim card. cheapest plan only cover italy, pay a little more allows you to roam in other european countries.

One other question..... does your home cellular network offer any roaming packages? That might also be a good way to provide coverage for a 24 day trip, provided the costs are reasonable.

In Italy both TIM and Vodafone offer SIM cards valid for 30 days geared to visitors. They both cost the same (€30) but offer different services so look at both and choose the one that best suits your needs. I know that the TIM card will work in all three countries that you are visiting. I believe the Vodafone card will as well but I am not certain. If you arrive at FCO there is a TIM store in the arrivals area of terminal 3.

I live in the USA. I have T-Mobile phones. T-Mobile has free data in Europe (caps at 2 Gig).
We use Telegram to phone each other, so it's a data phone call.

Vodafone sims will work all over Europe. In EU countries, no charge for at least data, nit positive on calls. But in Switzerland you will be charged €3 per day if your cellular us on. We were actually on a mountain top in Italy near Lago Maggiore (about 15 miles from closest Swiss border) and our phones picked up a Swiss cell tower and I was charged 3€.

The Vodafone plan is called Global+. 15Gb data, 500 minutes in Italy, and 300 minutes to other countries (per month). Plan us €10 per month plus cost to activate (maybe €15)
