Sightseeing trip to Sirmione (from Verona)

Hi Friends,
During our stay in Verona for a couple of days we are planning to visit Sirmione for about half-a-day. We have booked REGIONALE train to Desenzano Del Garda-Sirmione station, which should take about 20 minutes. Just wanted to know what could be preferred mode of transport from the station to Sirmione old town (as I believe it is about a few kilometers from there). Also, ferry appears to be having its own timings (once in an hour or so). We are visiting for some nice lakeside views as most of out Italy trip is in the modern cities.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

There is actually no need to book Regional trains. No reserved seats (first come first served, standing room if all seats are taken), so no chance of sold out seats. Also there are no discounts on those trains.
There is a bus from Desenzano to Sirmione. Coming from Verona it's faster if you take the bus 26 from Peschiera

Thanks for your quick response and suggestion; I am afraid we have already bought tickets (as were unaware of this bus service) and would have to look for our way from Dezenzano station. Any leads from there?

We took bus from Verona. Just the cost of the bus ticket which is super cheap. Visited the Castle, nearby ruins and the town. Loved it.
