Is any sightseeing tour needed in Florence or can we explore most of it by foot on our own? We will there for 1 day in May. Thanks
I also think that a tour adds something as opposed to your own especially for one day. We have a very nice, walking tours -- City Tours ?? -- arranged through the TI. Walked in and signed up.
Thanks Frank. Can you tell me where I can book this tour.
You can save a great deal of time with a tour. Many of the most important things to see have long lines. Tours go to the front of the line. If you are not on a tour you could lose hours waiting.
Since you will only be there for one day, you may want to consider an organized tour. ArtViva has a Florence in a Day tour that may be a good idea. Its a morning walking tour, then a break. Then its a couple (2?) hours at the Uffizi before another break. Finally you end with a tour of the Accademia (and the REAL David). As others said you will skip lines, but this may also help you to focus on the highlights of Florence. The tour is recommended in the current RS Italy 2011, and you get a discount if you bring the book.
