I hear about this bus that started a route between the port of Naples and Pompeii. We were thinking of taking the train, but this would eliminate a taxi ride to the train station. Does anyone have any experience with it?

A good friend took this bus in the summer and said it was excellent. You avoid the hassle of getting to the train station and riding on the sketchy commuter train called the Circumvesuviana. The only hitch is that the return trip is about four hours after your departure--there is no option to change to a later bus. Travel time depends on the Naples traffic. If you need to stay in Pompeii longer than that, you might have to consider other options.
