Sienna as a daytrip or its own night

As I go over my itinerary, I am arrive in Florence on Sept 17 and my hotel reservation is until Sept 20. Unfortunately, I schedule my train to Sorrento at 9:10 am on the Sept 21. Should I book an extra night in Florence and go to Sienna as a day trip? Or should I book a room in Sienna on the Sept 20 and take the early bus back to Florence the next morning to make the 9:10 am train?
