We will be in Italy for 3 weeks in September/October this year. We are planning to spend 2 days in Siena and 2 addtional nights in the countryside. While in Siena we would like to book a room within the city walls, as we did on our last visit 5 years ago. I just read that rental cars are no longer allowed within the city walls of Siena, even if you are booked into a hotel. Is this really the case?
There are parking garages/lots ringing the historic city center. It should not be a terrible walk if you find the closest garage. Ask your hotel for recommendations.
Karen,
Your hotel should be able to tell you where you can park within walking distance to the hotel. Last September we e-mailed them before we left home and they gave us directions to a parking lot.
Buona vacanza!
Thank you so much for your input. I have contacted our hotel for parking suggestions, and hopefully we won't be dragging our suitcases too far. ;)
