Has anyone done this ... ?Recommend or not?? I've looked into some of the tours,,, not sure we want to spend 5 hrs or so doing that... Will be there October 19. Thanks.

We spent a full day with tours by Roberto (in Rick's book). It was fabulous. It was not just wineries but a visit to an Abbey, a medieval town, and lunch with an Italian family. It was the highlight of our trip. We did a shared small group (6 of us) leaving from Florence but I believe that Roberto has more tour options if your pickup is Siena. I would definitely do one of these tours again!

It's probably a bit easier to visit most wineries as a tour group.
If you do on your own you will need a designated driver. Alcohol limits in Italy are very strict and lower than here in US
