Siena: visit from Florence or from Barberino Val d'Elsa

Hi All:

We are visiting Florence for 3 nights in September and Barberino Val d'Elsa for the following 3 nights. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in Florence then Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in Barberino Val d'Elsa with a rented car. Prior to Florence we are in Venice, then on Sunday we leave for CT. Does it make sense to try and visit Siena during this time? If so, should we visit from Florence or from Barberino Val d'Elsa?

I'd go by bus from Florence as a day trip. Siena is a very congested city for cars, and parking is tough to find. The bus drops you off in the center city.

The buses are across from the Florence train station--to the right of McDonalds.
