Siena to Treviso by car

Has anyone driven Siena to Treviso? I see it is about a 3 and a half hour drive. Curious if this is an easy drive or if we should be looking to break it up?

I haven't done this drive but that timing sounded short to me. Google maps says 4.25 - 5.5 hours and Google times are generally considered to "optimistic". The most direct route skirts both Florence and Bologna so I think the chances of traffic are high.

I think you should plan on a stop somewhere along the way.

Enjoy,

3 and a half hours may be a bit optimistic but not too far off.

It's pretty much all on 4 to 6 lane freeways, so the drive is no different than driving on American Interstate highways, except for having to pay a highway toll (but it's not too bad, maybe 25 euro in total).

You will need bio breaks as 4 hours is a bit too much to drive in one sitting unless you plan to wear diapers, but along Italian tolls freeways there are rest areas called AREA DI SERVIZIO every so many kilometers which are fully equipped with gas stations, restaurants, shops, bathrooms, showers, coffee bars, etc. so those are excellent for pit stops along the way without having to get off the toll freeway system.

Sorry I wasn’t clear enough. I was wanting to know if it was too far of a drive to complete in one day. Are we there many stops of interest between Siena and Treviso that we would miss speeding by.

You can complete the trip in less than a day, including a nice lunch break, if you want, at an Autogrill restaurant at any freeway AREA DI SERVIZIO along the way.

It's 350 km and to get there you will pass by Florence, Bologna, Ferrara, Padua, and Venice is not too distant either, just to name a few major cities along the route. So there are many stops of interest you could potentially miss along the way. There are important places almost anywhere you go in Italy. However visiting any of them would require getting off the toll motorway, pay toll, getting to the city center, find parking (with the issue of having to leave the luggage unattended in the trunk), getting to see things, get back to the car and drive to the freeway, etc. So it really depends on how quickly you want to get to destination and how interested you are in seeing any cities along the way.

This isn't a day trip. We are leaving Siena driving to stay 3 nights before we fly out of Venice to London.
This is at the end of a 47 day trip. 😊

I understand it isn’t a day trip. I meant that you can cover that distance in 4 hours plus pit stops so there is no need to spend the night somewhere along the way. It’s the exact same distance as Vancouver BC to Kamloops BC, just more freeway tunnels (between Florence and Bologna), probably more heavy truck traffic, but no risk of snow unless you travel in January or February.
